Our Level 1: Fundamentals teachers go through 2 years of live study including 8 intensive 4-day immersives . . . and that’s just the beginning. They also complete a year-long mentoring phase where they serve as an intern in 4 consecutive Level 1: Fundamentals classes. All teachers-in-training are also evaluated by mentors and class administrators at every step of their journey.

A new approach to health care establishes itself first by successfully helping those who use it. A point comes, however, where systematic clinical trials and other forms of research need to be conducted if the wider health care community is going to take it seriously.

We’re honored and happy to share that Alexie Bennett has just joined us as the Research Coordinator (part time) for Eden Energy Medicine. Alexie will be helping us build a more solid evidence base on the efficacy of Eden Energy Medicine (click here to read the current “state of the art”). She’s looking forward to connecting with our community on the Energy Medicine Research Network Facebook page, so don’t forget to look for her there!

Announcing our new 10-part series on Energy Psychology!

Energy Psychology is the umbrella term for a range of approaches that apply energy techniques to therapy and personal growth.

One of the most well-known among these is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), often simply known as “tapping.” This is a powerful tool that combines energy techniques with established psychotherapeutic methods to literally change patterns in the brain that maintain problematic emotions and behaviors.

By gently tapping on specific meridian endpoints, it is possible to overcome a whole host of challenges including breaking unwanted habits, releasing negative thought patterns, letting go of shame, anxiety and fear... and so much more.

Beginning with next month’s e-letter, our new Energy Psychology series will address an important aspect of energy psychology, from how to apply it to issues such as addiction to understanding how it works. These succinct articles will link to deeply insightful, well-researched journal articles and book chapters written by our own David Feinstein -- a respected clinical psychologist and leader in energy psychology.

We asked our staff to let us honor their favorite teachers in this issue. We were touched by their dedications:

• Leslie Adams, my children, Dylan and Mark Adams. Taught me selflessness and strength to overcome any obstacle.

• Linda Barba, my friend, Carrie Cento. Taught me to change my thoughts and to live in the possibilities.

• Brittney Bass, my mother, Tracy Bass. Taught me that anything is possible if I believe in myself.

• Karen Berry, my math teacher, Mrs. Allen. Taught me the power of positive thinking.

• Carrie Cento, my 4th grade teacher, Ms. Dobbie. Taught me to dream big because there was a great, big beautiful world beyond my small town.

• Dondi Dahlin, my drama teacher at Ashland Senior High School, Mr. Merryman. He trusted me to direct and choreograph entire productions with full casts and crews when other teachers didn’t trust me enough to pass a pop quiz. His confidence in me helped to shape who I am.

• Roger Devenyns, my dad, Albert Devenyns. Taught me that you never know the full story behind people in need, so assume they really need it – even if you doubt it – because you never know. He was saved by the kindness of strangers in wartime and always paid it forward.

• Lori Kats, my dad, Ron Kats. Taught me to do the job right the first time, don’t sweat the small stuff, and to always have 2 cold beer mugs in the freezer.

• Andrea Malden, my piano teacher, Donn Rochlin. Taught me how to play it by ear.

• Jeffrey McDonnell, I have had many great teachers in my life, but today I want to honor my grandmother Bernice who passed away in 1992. She gifted me the meaning of being loved unconditionally. When she held me in her arms as a child, there was no judgement or expectations of the kind of person I needed to be around her to be cherished. She loved me just for being me! And, I felt it in every cell of my body. Miss you grandma!!

• Julie McDonnell, my husband Jeff. Taught me to trust and have confidence in myself.
