We have so much to be grateful for this holiday season, but what stands out on a personal level is Donna’s recovery from her heart surgery. With the progression from her organs breaking down in her 20s due to her multiple sclerosis, leading to a heart attack at 27, and a buildup of scar tissue in her arteries over the years (despite perfect cholesterol), her heart simply wasn’t receiving enough blood. That a surgical procedure could correct this is a miracle that not only wasn’t available to our ancestors, it could hardly be imagined much before it was first accomplished in 1960.

Donna’s surgeon said that after she recovers from the surgery, she will be feeling better than she has felt for years. Imagine Donna with her big heart not getting enough blood to that heart, yet still being her loving self to everyone she meets. No one knew her body was struggling. Using energy medicine, she was able to do all she did while, in Jackson Brown’s lyric, "running on empty." [This paragraph was written by David; it makes Donna blush with her newly enhanced blood supply]

Now three months after the miraculous though brutal procedure, Donna has healed enough to begin to sense that what the surgeon said is true. This is another place where energy medicine has come in. While heart surgery saves hundreds of thousands of lives every year, a serious syndrome that plagues some of these survivors is called "failure to thrive." Donna’s outlook on the other hand is fantastic. She receives or self-applies energy medicine sessions every day. This is building up her physical energy through this challenging healing process and keeping her spirits strong.

We have always said that energy medicine and the best of conventional Western medicine can complement one another beautifully. This year, Donna is the poster child for that one. As 2022 comes to a close, we are grateful for our daughters and grandsons. We are grateful for the trees we can see from our windows. We are grateful for all the teachers who are spreading energy medicine into the world. We are grateful for our Eden Method staff, the "wind beneath our wings." We are grateful for the energy medicine community that surrounds and supports us. And we are grateful with special poignancy for our good health.

Did you know this lovely little church in Ashland, Oregon, was home to Donna, David, Dondi, and Titanya starting in 1980. They turned the church offices and classrooms into living quarters, and Donna taught her energy medicine classes in the church’s sanctuary. These classes became a staple of the town! While Donna had already been a popular teacher in San Diego, this was the first time she had her own teaching center.

The church and the warehouse are both located in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, which is our headquarters and where many of our staff members live. We think of Ashland as the home and the birthplace of the Eden Method 🙂

We have so much to be grateful for and many reasons to celebrate the festive season each year, but this year is extra special! As you might have heard, Donna’s open heart surgery in September was a resounding success, and she’s been in the healing phase over the past few months.

We’re THRILLED to share that Donna is now well on her way to a full recovery (Eden Energy Medicine played a crucial role in her recovery and continues to aid in her healing every single day). As you can see in this picture, she’s in high spirits and excited about spending the holidays with the family, including her adorable grandson Sequoia, who dressed her as a Christmas tree just before this photo was taken:-)
